Overview of Development Programs

·    Clinics / Open Gym - These programs are run from time to time (eg. Back to School Clinic or Pre-Season Warmup / Open Gym) to give players an opportunity to work on skills, play some volleyball with friends and old teammates.  The sessions are led by the experienced coaches at Apex’s and sometimes special guests.  Sessions are normally structured for Modified – JV as well as Varsity levels.  Clinic fees are based on a single session activity.

·    Volley Tots – In-house development program for Boys and Girls ages 4-10 years old.  These sessions are held on Friday Evenings.  USAV teaching techniques for younger ages are used in this program. The balls used are designed for this age by Molten and the players receive instruction on a lowered net.

·    Volley Little’s / Sunday Night Lites / Teams – These are in-house development programs held on Sundays which do not include travel and do not include competition events. The programs were started to provide more players opportunities to develop skills and practical experiences in volleyball.  The same training techniques used with the travel teams are applied to the VL/SNL/SNT programs.   There are usually from multiple coaches on hand for each session.  The program runs from early January to approximately Mid-April.   Tryouts are not required to participate.  Signups may be limited due to court availability.   Program details are finalized in November (based on team makeup) and published in December.  The VL program uses 12u balls designed by Molten and the players receive instruction on a lowered net.  The SNL / SNT programs use standard Molten indoor balls and standard net height. The VL / SNL programs focus on individual skills and mechanics.  The SNT program focuses more on team based dynamics (although we use the teams designation – the SNT program is not travel teams.  The program will focus on team instruction and playing 3v3, 4v4, 5v5, 6v6.)
