Status for the 2020-2021 season...A letter from Bill Doyle

Hello, Apex Families and Faithful Followers,

First and foremost, I would like to thank all of you for your undying support.  For some of you, this goes back to the early nineties and the days of Mid Hudson Juniors Volleyball.

This Pandemic has placed Apex Volleyball in an undesirable but real situation.  We do not have a  guarantee of any venues in which we can train, nor do we have any predictable light at the end of the tunnel, with public and private schools and colleges barring the doors for outside events.  We do not see a path forward.

Youth sports have been a significant part of my life since the early seventies, I also started playing  Volleyball then, and I started coaching and teaching kids to play Volleyball toward the end of that decade.  Yes, that totals fifty years of involvement on one level or another involved in this game that I learned to love.  This transition will not be easy for me.

Apex will take a bit of a break, minimize our operations, and see how youth sports proceed.  Whether we will return is unknown, but it will not be immediate as far as we can see.  You should know that I am not in favor of taking the level of risk necessary to get back in the gym and certainly not competing.  I also will not ask our coaches to put themselves in that situation or at that level of risk.

All of that said, I am certainly well aware that there are other clubs in the area who's administrators do not share my views, and I fully respect that.  Please feel free to explore all of your options while being an educated and savvy consumer.  If there comes the promised miracle and things go back to some normalcy, we may reconsider, but I don't see that as an option this season.

About GEVA, yes, I am still at Junior's helm, and we are making every effort to travel down a Road to Return while facing all of the mitigating circumstances and uncertainties everyone else is.  There is a new GEVA website and a new GEVA registration system also.  All of it goes live Monday night at midnight.  Read the options and instructions well; there are some money-saving interim options for the fall.

I will miss you all, perhaps more than you know.  Stay Safe, Be Well, and Find Joy.
